Navratri is associated with the prominent battle that took place between Goddess Durga and the demon Mahishasura and thus celebrates the victory of good over evil. These nine days are solely dedicated to Durga and her nine avatars – the Navadurga. Each day is associated with an incarnation of the goddess. This festival is held in honour of the divine feminine.
The celebration culminates with Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana on Dussehra.
The fight to save Goddess Sita lasted for ten days, and on the tenth day of the Ashwin month, Lord Rama managed to kill Ravana with the help of the Divyastra given by Goddess Durga.
This festival is celebrated in different ways all over India. Here is a glimpse of the day well spent and well celebrated at Gaurs International School, GYC.
